Veteran imam of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, beloved for his calm, measured tartil.
Sheikh Ali bin Abdurrahman Al-Hudhaify was born in the village of Al-Qara in the Aseer region of Saudi Arabia in 1947. He memorized the Quran in his youth and pursued advanced Islamic studies.
He earned his PhD from the Islamic University of Madinah, where he later served as a professor in the Faculty of the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies.
He was appointed as an imam at the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid An-Nabawi) in Madinah, and also served for a period as an imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah — a rare honor.
His recitation is known for its slow, measured tartil and exemplary application of tajweed rules, making his recordings particularly valued by students of the Quran.
